　　This is the river. The kids preferred to swim in this river.

　　這是兩個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單句，但是是完整的句子，所以?xún)蓚�(gè)句子后都加句號(hào)。

　　把這兩個(gè)句子合成定語(yǔ)從句，可以是，

　　1)This is the river that the kids preferred to swim in. that 代替in后面的river。

　　2)This is the river which the kids preferred to swim in. which代替in后面的river。

　　3)This is the river the kids preferred to swim in. that和which可以省略，因?yàn)檫B接詞which和that代替的是定語(yǔ)從句里介詞in的賓語(yǔ)。

　　4)This is the river in which the kids preferred to swim. in和which放在一起. 在river 的后面，in which the kids preferred to swim 一起修飾the river。

　　(B)

　　He liked the people. He lived with those people.

　　這兩句合成定語(yǔ)從句，就是

　　1)He liked the people that he lived with. that即可以修飾人，也可以修飾物。

　　2)He liked the people who he lived with.

　　who可以代替定語(yǔ)從句里的主語(yǔ)，也可以代替賓語(yǔ)。(賓語(yǔ)有動(dòng)詞賓語(yǔ)，也有介詞賓語(yǔ))

　　3)He liked the people he lived the with.

　　連接詞可以省略，因?yàn)榇�替的是介詞with的賓語(yǔ)

　　4)He liked the people whom he lived with.

　　whom只能代替賓語(yǔ)。

　　4)He liked the people with whom he lived. 把with 和 whom 連起來(lái)，加上he lived,

　　放在一起修飾the people。

　　注：. 介詞若是和連接詞放在一起的定語(yǔ)從句，只能是修飾物用which，修飾人用whom。不能用that，who這兩個(gè)連接詞。也不能省略。

　　定語(yǔ)從句與主句間可以加逗號(hào)。
