introductions and greetings
1. Listening You are going to hear a number of people introducing themselves.
Some of the introductions involve two people, some involve three. First look at
the conversations in the pictures below. Then, as you listen, number these
conversations in the order you hear them. The first one has been done for you.

課文注釋及詞匯講解
* We are going to be working together.
我們將在一起工作。
該句用的是將來(lái)進(jìn)行時(shí)，意義相當(dāng)于一般將來(lái)時(shí)，即該句也可以說(shuō)成：We are going work together. 用將來(lái)進(jìn)行時(shí)目的是語(yǔ)言更加形象生動(dòng)。中國(guó)學(xué)生往往不敢用將來(lái)進(jìn)行時(shí)。其實(shí)該時(shí)態(tài)用法與一般將來(lái)時(shí)基本一樣，而且能豐富我們的表達(dá)方式，也更符合口語(yǔ)習(xí)慣。
e.g. I will beworking in New York next month.
我下個(gè)月將到紐約去工作。
* have to 不得不，必須
must的意思也是"必須"。
兩者的區(qū)別為：
have to 是一種客觀要求。
must 為主觀認(rèn)為。
e.g. According to the contract[合同] wehave to pay by L/C[信用證]
根據(jù)合同規(guī)定，我們必須以信用證付款。[合同條款是客觀要求]
"You must pay us by L/C," said the exporter.
"你們必須以信用證付款，"出口商說(shuō)。[某人的要求是主觀的]
* over (adv.)(跨過(guò)一定空間)到.............
e.g. He's over from the States on a visit.
他從美國(guó)來(lái)訪。
* the States 指美國(guó)[注意：首字母要大寫并且要在詞尾加-s表復(fù)數(shù)]
* be on a visit 在訪問(wèn)中
介詞on在這里指"在從事……中;處于……情況中"。
e.g. I'm here on business. 我來(lái)這兒出差。
* host 主人
女主人為hostess
* Dr 為 doctor的縮寫，是博士或醫(yī)生的頭銜。可以單獨(dú)用來(lái)稱呼人，也可以加在姓的前面稱呼人。
e.g. Dr Smith 史密斯博士/醫(yī)生[依上下文而定]
* move 搬家，移動(dòng)
e.g. The traders are going to move theiroffice to Wall Street.
這些貿(mào)易商打算把辦公室搬進(jìn)華爾街。
* join 加入，參加
e.g. She's just joined the company.
她剛剛到這個(gè)公司工作。
He joined the marketing team last week.
他上周加入了營(yíng)銷組。
* Purchasing Manager 采購(gòu)經(jīng)理
* Export Sales Manager 出口銷售經(jīng)理
* cover (業(yè)務(wù))覆蓋
e.g. What countries do you cover?你們?cè)谀男﹪?guó)家有業(yè)務(wù)?
The tea company covers almost all of East Asia. 這家茶葉公司與東亞各國(guó)幾乎都有業(yè)務(wù)關(guān)系。
