美國(guó)駐華大使新年致辭
Da Jia Hao! Mona and I would like to take this opportunity to greet our friends here in China and our old friends back home in America. The Chinese lunar new year is a time for people to return to their laojia, reunite with family, and gather around a holiday meal with loved ones and friends.
大家好！李蒙和我想借此機(jī)會(huì)，問(wèn)候我們?cè)谥袊?guó)及美國(guó)國(guó)內(nèi)的朋友。中國(guó)農(nóng)歷新年是人們回老家，與家人團(tuán)圓，與索愛(ài)的人和朋友聚在一起共享節(jié)日大餐的時(shí)刻。
Those born in the year of the snake are said to be marked by wisdom and determination. In line with this tradition, 2017 should also be a year of new beginnings for the US and China as new leaders in both countries join together to forge stronger Asia-pacific relations.
據(jù)說(shuō)蛇年出生的人的標(biāo)志是智慧和決心。與傳統(tǒng)相應(yīng)，隨著美中新領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人一起鑄造更強(qiáng)的亞太關(guān)系，2017年也應(yīng)該是新開(kāi)始的一年。
40 years ago, President Nixon came to China and ushered in a new era of relations between our two great countries. That became the relationship that has existed almost since the very founding of the United States. Indeed, America launched our trading relationship with China only two years after the end of our war of the independence, when the United States first sent a trading ship to one of the world's oldest and most vibrant civilizations.
40年前，尼克松總統(tǒng)來(lái)到中國(guó)，開(kāi)啟了我們兩國(guó)關(guān)系的新時(shí)代，這個(gè)新時(shí)代重新點(diǎn)燃幾乎從美國(guó)成立之初就已存在的關(guān)系。事實(shí)上，美國(guó)在我們的獨(dú)立戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)結(jié)束后僅兩年就開(kāi)始了我們與中國(guó)的貿(mào)易關(guān)系。當(dāng)時(shí)美國(guó)第一次派出了貿(mào)易船到世界上最古老和最有活力的文明之一。
Our connection was cemented by the tireless labor and entrepreneurial spirit of the Chinese immigrants who came to the United States to realize their dreams of prosperity.
Their contribution to the construction of the transcontinental railroad helped America become a proceeding power by the end of the 19th century.
我們的聯(lián)系因中國(guó)移民的不懈勞動(dòng)和創(chuàng)業(yè)精神而得到鞏固，這些移民為了實(shí)現(xiàn)他們的繁榮夢(mèng)想來(lái)到美國(guó)，他們?yōu)闄M貫大陸的鐵路建設(shè)做出的貢獻(xiàn)幫助美國(guó)在19世紀(jì)末成為太平洋強(qiáng)國(guó)。
We fought together in World War II to restore peace and prosperity to East Asia. Today, our scientists and engineers are working together to cure diseases, solve the resource challenges that face our world, and leave our planet a better place for our children and their children.

XinNianKuai Le! Mona and I would like to extend our best wishes to everyone here in China and our friends and family back home in America as we celebrate the Chinese New Year. This is a special time of a year, many people returning to their Laojia, reuniting with family and enjoying a holiday meal with loved ones and friends.
新年快樂(lè)！在我們慶祝中國(guó)新年之際，李蒙和我想祝福中國(guó)這里的每個(gè)人和我們?cè)诿绹?guó)國(guó)內(nèi)的朋友和家人。這是一年中特別的時(shí)刻，許多人返回老家，與家人團(tuán)聚，與親朋好友共享節(jié)日大餐。
People born in the Year of the Horse are known for strength and vigor. This past year has been an important one for new relationships to form between the United States and China. We are optimistic that in 2017 we will continue to see further strengthening of these relationships.
眾所周知，馬年出生的人有力量和活力，過(guò)去一年是形成美中新關(guān)系的重要一年。我們樂(lè)觀地認(rèn)為，2017年我們將繼續(xù)看到此關(guān)系的進(jìn)一步加強(qiáng)。
Although Mona and I will soon be departing for our hometown of Seattle, we will continue to actively promote people-to-people relationship between our two great countries. We've all worked so well together in these past two and half years. US officials, Chinese officials, members of the business community in both our countries, to say nothing of the students, educators, journalists, artists and athletes bringing our two countries closer together in a million different ways. We've accomplished a lot together and I'm optimistic about what the future holds.
雖然李蒙和我將很快離開(kāi)這里回到我們的家鄉(xiāng)西雅圖，但我們將繼續(xù)積極推動(dòng)我們兩個(gè)偉大國(guó)家人民與人民之間的關(guān)系。在過(guò)去兩年半的時(shí)間里，我們大家的努力都很出色。美國(guó)官員、中國(guó)官員以及我們兩國(guó)的商界成員，更不用說(shuō)學(xué)生、教育工作者、記者、藝術(shù)家和運(yùn)動(dòng)員，他們以千萬(wàn)種不同的方式將我們兩國(guó)聯(lián)系得更加緊密。我們已經(jīng)一起做到了很多，我對(duì)未來(lái)感到樂(lè)觀。
The kids and I have been enjoying the great adventures we had in China, reconnecting with family members in Shanghai and Taishan, and working with Chinese and American friends to increase people-to-people exchange. It has been our family's greatest honor to represent the millions of Chinese Americans as well as all Americans who appreciate the value of family and community that the Chinese new year is embodied so well.
